Crime declining in Boston: What's the latest in the trend? - Jan ’23




The number of crime incidents in Boston, MA saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 5,638 for Dec-2022 down from 5,675 for Nov-2022 (-0.7% change).



The offenses that decreased the most were Drug/Narcotic Violations and Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property. Drug/Narcotic Violations fell to 82 incidents last month, from 126 the month before. (-34.9% change). Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property went from 186 to 142 (-23.7% change).

Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Burglary/Breaking & Entering went from 64 to 83 incidents (+29.7% change). Incidents of Robbery rose from 46 to 58 (+26.1% change). Aggravated Assault went up from 92 to 112 incidents (+21.7% change).
