Crime declining in Detroit: What's the latest in the trend? - Jan ‘25

The number of crime incidents in Detroit saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 4,966 for Jan-2025 down from 5,810 for Dec-2024 (-14.5% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were Robbery and Motor Vehicle Theft. Robbery fell to 65 incidents last month, from 85 the month before. (-23.5% change). Motor Vehicle Theft went from 645 to 499 (-22.6% change).


Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Drug/Narcotic Violations went from 40 to 77 incidents (+92.5% change).
