Crime declining in Detroit: What's the latest in the trend? - Dec ’22


The number of crime incidents in Detroit saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 6,678 for Nov-2022 down from 7,041 for Oct-202 (-5.2% change).


The offenses that decreased the most were Drug/Narcotic Violations and Simple Assault. Drug/Narcotic Violations fell to 42 incidents last month, from 50 the month before. (-16% change). Simple Assault went from 1,247 to 1,117 (-10.4% change).


Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Motor Vehicle Theft went from 1,008 to 1,091 incidents (+8.2% change).
