Crime declining in Indianapolis: What's the latest in the trend? - Dec ‘24

The number of crime incidents in Indianapolis saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 32,300 for Dec-2024 down from 32,690 for Nov-2024 (-1.2% change).


The offenses that decreased the most were Theft From Motor Vehicle and Aggravated Assault. Theft From Motor Vehicle fell to 736 incidents last month, from 880 the month before. (-16.4% change). Aggravated Assault went from 300 to 270 (-10% change).


Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Shoplifting went from 357 to 386 incidents (+8.1% change).
