Crime declining in Minneapolis: What's the latest in the trend? - Aug ’24


The number of crime incidents in Minneapolis saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents fell to 4,183 for Aug-2024 down from 4,402 for Jul-2024 (-5% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were Robbery and Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property. Robbery fell to 149 incidents last month, from 194 the month before. (-23.2% change). Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property went from 720 to 624 (-13.3% change).


Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Drug/Narcotic Violations went from 90 to 98 incidents (+8.9% change). Incidents of Burglary/Breaking & Entering rose from 261 to 267 incidents (+2.3% change).
