Crime declining in San Francisco: What's the latest in the trend? - Oct ‘22



The number of crime incidents in San Francisco saw an overall increase last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents increased to 11,029 for Sep-2022 up from 10,865 for Aug-2022 (+1.5% change).


Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Aggravated Assault went from 258 to 339 (+31.4% change). Incidents of Robbery rose from 206 to 246 (+19.4% change). Theft From Motor Vehicle went up from 1,955 to 2,235 incidents (+14.3% change).

The offenses that decreased the most were Drug/Narcotic Violations and Shoplifting. Drug/Narcotic Violations fell to 324 incidents last month, from 517 the month before. (-37.3% change). Shoplifting went from 185 to 169 (-8.6% change).
