Crime on the rise in New York City: What's the latest in the trend? - Jun ‘24


The number of crime incidents in New York City saw an overall increase last month, after a previous decrease, according to data from CrimeoMeter. Incidents increased to 37,675 for Jun-2024 up from 34,920 for May-2024 (+7.9% change).

Among the types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, reports of Aggravated Assault went from 604 to 707 incidents (+17.1% change). Incidents of Motor Vehicle Theft rose from 2,994 to 3,301 incidents (+10.3% change). Simple Assault went up from 6,825 to 7,441 incidents (+9% change).
